Classroom Behaviour Management Programme
How it works:
Mahi Pai – Good/Acceptable Behaviour:
Students who work well in class can be recognised with their name recorded on the Mahi Pai area on the class whiteboard. This will lead to a reward, for example a click on their click card.
Teachers will also reward children in their class in other ways they feel are appropriate eg:
- Words of praise and encouragement
- Earning House Points
- Occasional awards, certificates, stamps, stickers
- Small prizes / special treats
- Special privileges
- Being mentioned at syndicate / school assembly
- Principal's / Deputy Principal’s endorsement of good work
- Newsletter mentions
Mahi Kino – Bad / Unacceptable Behaviour
Students who break a school rule will receive a verbal warning. If they continue to break the rules in the same day they will have their name recorded on the Mahi Kino area on the class white board. Teachers may develop in-class consequences for minor misbehaviour.
The Assembly Draw
Every student who has gone through the two weeks leading up to assembly without getting a Mahi Kino will be entered in the draw to win a prize from one of the sponsors listed below. This system recognises those students who consistently demonstrate appropriate classroom behaviour.
