Playground behaviour

The Top Notch and Steps Systems operate in class and in the playground.

There are always at least two teachers on duty during playtime and lunchtime.

To help support positive behaviour in the playground:

• We have a team of senior students trained as “Fussbusters” who are rostered on to intervene in minor problems in the junior playground before they get out of hand.

• PE equipment is available at morning tea and lunchtimes; this is distributed by monitors from the senior classes.

• Teachers and visiting adults will run special clubs and activites at lunchtimes.

The Time Out Room (next to Room 1) is where students demonstrating negative behaviour are sent by a duty teacher. The Time Out Room is supervised by a member of staff. If there are frequent and repeated ‘time out’ incidents parents will be notified.
