Student Achievement.

1. Major Focus – Early Numeracy Project
Numeracy will be the major focus for the next 3 years. Diagnostic testing and other assessments will provide the basis for target setting. 

2. Major Focus - Healthy/Enviroschool - This goal will encompass all aspects of the Enviroschool programme, PMP, Sustainability, the key PE/PA initiatives, and all the Health Programme initiatives eg. Healthy Lunches, Drink water, Sun/Shade, Values & Virtues Programme - one focus per month.

Minor Goals.

1. Teacher PD.  ICT – South Wairarapa Contract for Teacher Development.

To advance children’s ICT skills and knowledge.

2. Literacy and Teaching Reading.

Follow on from focus over recent years. Reading Comprehension, Proof Reading, Spelling.

3. Community Input.

A.  NZ History from a Maori perspective.
B.  Understanding World Religions

Initiatives. Curriculum.

• An integrated curriculum and inquiry learning approaches will be used.
• Te Reo and Kapa Haka programmes.
• Programmes for Gifted & Talented children.
• A foreign language –Japanese. Could also include Spanish or another language.

Initiatives. General.

• Prep Programme – Term 4.  (a schoolwide production/sales/business programme)
• Outdoor Education Programmes – Camping, Tararua Challenge, Marae visits etc
• Entranceway – major community project.
• Staffing – induction of new staff – Beginning Teachers, DP, RTLB, Part time Teachers.
• Reporting of Assessment to BOT – a schedule for reporting student achievement/progress.
• New School Master Computer programme. Introduce and adopt.
• First Aid training for every child.
• Astronomy – establish a Junior Astronomy Club.
• Continue – PMP. Drum group. After school Academies. After School Care programme. Wairarapa wide competitions in Speech, Chess and Science.
