Peer Guidance and Mentoring Scheme- “Fussbusters” Playground Intervention.


Rationale:
Pupil behaviour is best monitored and guided by peers and internalised/reinforced at an early intervention level.

Process:

1) We will roster house captains, school councillors and selected role model pupils as early intervention tutors before problems get out of hand during minor problems.

2) The pupils will be given training in intervention techniques and instructions as to appropriate interventions.

3) There will be 2 rostered members per day reporting daily to the Teacher on Duty.

4) An intervention notebook will be carried and incidents will be recorded. These will be sighted by the Teacher on Duty and behaviour patterns will be noted. Any further interventions needed will be referred to the:

  •     class teacher
  •     syndicate leader
  •     Deputy Principal/Assistant Principal
  •     Principal

as needed.

5) Support for these pupils will be given by all staff.
