From the Newsletter - Term 2, 2010 - #05

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Congratulations to our new Board of Trustee members!  Many thanks to those who put their name forward for the role, and to everyone who took the time to vote in the election. Thanks also to Ronny Tankersley, our efficient returning officer.  Our first meeting of the new BOT is next Tuesday 25 May, 7pm in the staffroom.

Autumn is finally here with the chilly weather. There are several lovely polar fleece jackets on the Lost Property rack outside Room 8. None of them are named. These are expensive items to lose. Please make sure your child’s top is clearly marked – we are able to return those which are named very quickly. Don’t forget – if you require financial support to purchase uniform there is a small fund at school to help you. Ring me in confidence for more information.

After several reminders we still have children at school without the correct uniform. This is especially concerning on a Monday when the reason is ‘It is in the wash’. Light jackets / sweatshirts are NOT part of our uniform – the polar fleece is for that purpose. A heavy outdoor coat is OK if the weather is bad for outside wear at playtime and lunchtime. All shorts, trousers and skirts must be navy blue. There are several reasonably priced items in our school second hand shop if you need some. Call in at the school office. I will be sending a letter home if your child is regularly out of uniform.

The school dental clinic is operating at present and will remain open for approximately two weeks.  The phone number is 379 8797.

Carterton School Cross Country will be held in Week 7, Wednesday 2nd June. It will begin after interval. All parents and caregivers are welcome to come along and watch this exciting event. The postponement date is Wednesday 9 June.

The Fifa World Cup is getting closer. Carterton school students will be receiving their pedometers next Monday as part of the “My Greatest Feat” campaign. Ask your children all about it.

Weetbix – 1 kg boxes available at $3.00 per box.  Money to go towards Breakfast Club.  Please pay and collect from the school office.

Chess Club starts Wednesday 26th May 12.30 pm (bring your lunch) in Room 1 with Mr O’Connell and Minty.  Years 3 and up - bring your brain too!!!
