Carterton School - Newsletter No 6 – 24th August 2010
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Our week began with the excitement of Rooms 9 & 11 moving into their new classrooms. The rooms are warm and inviting places for learning. Thank you to all those parents who came along and helped on moving day and again today. Your assistance was much appreciated and invaluable.
Just a reminder that children are expected to wear their uniform to school every day. I have noticed a variety of jackets being worn instead of the school sweatshirt. Please keep us informed by sending a note to the class teacher with your child if there is a problem with the uniform.. If items of clothing have been lost, please check lost property outside Room 8. There is always a large quantity of unnamed clothing found. Named clothing is returned to children promptly.
There is still a large number of books outstanding from the Town Library. Please have a check at home to see if your child/children have returned their books. These can be returned to the class teacher.
Have you noticed the daffodils are beginning to bloom now? As part of the national Daffodil Day on Friday we are participating in Paint your School Yellow, so we are inviting all children and staff to wear something yellow and to bring a gold coin as a donation for the local Cancer Society.
The school car park on a wet day can be a dangerous place. Please help to keep our children safe by following some basic rules and common sense:
- Don’t park in the driveway or double park in the car park, use the allocated parking spaces only. A double parked car creates a hazard by limiting access and obstructing other driver’s view of children crossing the car park.
- Don’t park on the yellow lines outside the school gate just to get a few metres closer to the school. Even though you think you will only be stopping for a minute, parking on the yellow lines creates a visibility hazard for other drivers trying to enter or leave the school car park.
- As an alternative, arrange to meet your child in the public car park opposite the police station, or park further down Dixon St towards Park Rd.
Thank you for taking the above into consideration and helping to keep our children safe.
