Carterton School - Newsletter No 7 – 31st August 2010
Dear Parents and Caregivers
I have the pleasure of taking on the role of Acting DP at Carterton School this term. In this role I have spent some time in each class in the school. It has been a wonderful opportunity to see the great learning that is happening in our classes. What a great school we have with super students!
I have also gained a wider view of the ‘happenings’ in our school. A big thank you must go out to the parents and volunteers who are actively involved in our school. Examples in the last week include Rippa Rugby Manager’s, PMP helpers, Bible in Schools volunteers, enthusiastic PTA and Board of Trustees Representatives, parents providing transport to events, volunteers who run the breakfast club, Greytown Little Theatre who started a drama group yesterday… and many, many more. Everyone is here to support the students and teachers of our school. Thank you for supporting Carterton School. It confirms what a great community we have.
Eveready Barcodes. Last chance to send in Eveready battery barcodes as the competition closes this week. Please send any last barcodes in by tomorrow.
Rippa Rugby last Thursday 26th August turned out to be an excellent day with 6 rounds of games. Four teams represented Yr 7 & 8’s, 8 teams in Year 5 & 6 and 5 teams in Year 3 & 4. Players of the day in each team received a rugby ball courtesy of the Wairarapa Rugby union. The final results are yet to be announced. Some teams will go on to represent the school at the Wairarapa Tournament in Masterton.
Science Fair – Many students represented our school at the Wairarapa Science and Technology Fair last week. We are waiting for the official results but we do know that 25 students have been awarded placings in a variety of categories including scientific investigation, photographs, observational drawings and posters. Congratulations!
