While I am at Carterton School, I shall endeavour to:

* Use my common sense.

* Be kind to others.

* Be polite, honest and helpful at all times.

* Respect other people, property and the environment.

* Address and answer all adult helpers and staff by their proper names.

* Always be thoughtful and considerate of other people and their feelings.

* Keep myself safe:

• Leave the school grounds by the proper exits.
• Use the school crossing.
• Walk my bike to and from the gate and across the road.
• Watch for cars at the school entrance.
• Wait at the front of the school until the town clock strikes at 8:15 am.
• Get permission to leave school grounds during school time. Inform my teacher if I am going home for lunch.
• Be at school between 8:15 am and 8:55 am and be ready to begin my school work.
• Try to walk to and from school with a group of children or a friend. Avoid being alone.

* Look after my school and equipment.

• Put all rubbish in the bins.
• Care for the gardens and plants.
• Stay off the grass when the SIGN is up.
• Keep balls away from buildings;

* Take home all newsletters at the proper time and give them to your parents/caregiver.

* Put all equipment used back into its proper place when finished.

* Treat all equipment with care.

* Know how to behave in and around the buildings.

• Use a quiet voice inside.
• Sit quietly during assemblies.
• Move quietly.
• Be BUSY doing quiet things on rainy days.
• Walk around corners and in walkways.
• Only enter the staffroom and offices when asked to by an adult.

* Know the playground rules.

• Obey the bells.
• Play outside unless told to go indoors by duty teachers.
• Know where to play.
• Keep to Senior and Junior areas.

Lunchtimes:

• Eat my lunch in the correct area.
• Wait until I am released by the duty teacher or monitor.
• Share any sports gear.

Out of bounds:

• Car-park
• Bike stands
• Dental clinic
• All boundary fences
• School gardens
• Swimming pool area
• Park area out of sight
• Hall
