Who are the PTA?
The Carterton School PTA is made up of enthusiastic parents and teachers who are keen on making the experience of school life as happy and enriched as possible for both our tamariki and teachers.

These awesome people, selflessly volunteer their time to create fundraising opportunities to support the school. They organise and host fundraising events and initiatives to support our school financially. They also sponsor selected activities within the school.

Our PTA fundraise throughout the year with a variety of events – Pie Sales, the Gala, sausage sizzles and more. The 2nd Hand Uniform Shop is run by the awesome team of volunteers in collaboration with the school. The team also muck in and hold working bees to improve the school grounds for the people of Carterton School.

Lately, fundraising has been in aid of a variety of things, including:
- our much awaited School entrance upgrade
- helping finance school trips
- PE and sports equipment and uniforms
- learning books and classroom resources
- iPads and devices
- furniture upgrades
- school bikes
- skateboarding and boxing lessons
- gardening equipment
- team camps
- BBQ’s and
- cultural enrichment programmes.

They have invested a whopping $44,000 in the last two years into our kura! - Thanks PTA!

How have they managed to fundraise this much?
The PTA is always on the lookout for fun ways to engage with the community and host events. These include the famous Annual Carterton School Gala, Sausage sizzles for Community events, Pie Fundraisers, 2nd Hand Uniform Shop and Non-Uniform days.
The Carterton School PTA also assist with school events such as Pet Day and Cross Country.

Our kura appreciates every bit of support the PTA gives and it is awesome to see many caregivers and members of the school community getting involved.

Is it like the PTA in movies and super intense and a massive commitment?

In movies, school PTA’s get a bit of a bad reputation for being a massive commitment - not ours though! There is no minimum time requirement to join and any participation is encouraged. There is something suitable for all people, time schedules and capacities.

Not much time or can rock up at the last minute to lend a hand? Perfect, come along!

Want to be involved in planning or spending money? Brilliant.

Know some businesses that could donate a prize or auction item for the Gala? Yes please!

Are able to lend a hand in a working bee? Legend.

You can guarantee you’ll be surrounded by awesome people and get all the good feels of satisfaction and accomplishment when the tamariki are enjoying the new things that you have helped to provide.

It takes a village to raise a child and our village is awesome!
